Five Things to Know About New Canaan: June 23

Learn to play football like the NY Giants and much more!

  1. Papers, papers everywhere... Well pack 'em up because this Saturday On-Site Shredding will get rid of them for you. The Silvermine Community Association Shredding Event will be held on June 25 in the parking lot of the Silvermine Guild Art Center from 9 a.m to 12 p.m. "Your files, boxes and all, will be destroyed and recycled, right in front of your eyes! The best part is that there's no need to separate staples, paper clips, spiral notebooks or binders. The cost is $25 for the first three boxes, $5 for each additional box."
  2. Tonight at 7 p.m. at "the between the candidates for First Selectman, Paul Giusti and Rob Mallozzi, as well as candidate presentations from Republicans running for Selectman, Town Council, Board of Education, and Town Clerk."
  3. From June 25 - August 6, join on the weekends for . A perfect summer treat for the kids, even summer birthday parties would be a blast at this Waveny event!
  4. Friday night is Astronomy Night at the Stamford Museum and Nature Center. "Head to the Observatory for a real treat as we explore the night sky, planets, stars and more! Start by enjoying a presentation on monster telescopes, followed by a visit to view the night sky through our 22-inch telescope. The presentation portion of the program will be held rain or shine. Viewing hours are weather permitting." The show starts at 7:30 p.m. sharp.
  5. begins Monday, June 27 at from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Giants players such as Eric Dorsey, Charles Way and Rodney Hampton will help kids ages 6 to 14 learn to run, throw, defend and compete the New York Giants way — but with non-contact.
