Preview of the Rams state playoff semifinal game vs. Daniel Hand.

 

Saturday 12/4 CIAC Class L Football Playoffs Semifinal

#6 New Canaan (10-1) vs. #2 Daniel Hand (10-1) at 7 p.m. at West Haven.

 

 New Canaan (10-1) 

 The Rams come into the semifinal having won their last five games. They          defeated Naugatuck in the quarterfinals 21-12 to advance and will now face a  Hand team that has not lost since early October.

 The Rams were down early to Naugatuck 6-0 before standout wide  receiver Kevin Macari scored two touchdowns. NC was up 14-6 at halftime and  Macari added another score in the fourth quarter to seal the win. 

 The last time these two teams met in the state playoffs was in the 2007 Class MM  State Final in which New Canaan won 34-30.

 The Rams will be looking to advance to the state final for the fifth straight  season.

 

 Daniel Hand (10-1)

 The Tigers come into the semifinal game on a six game winning streak. Their last  loss was October 15th where they were defeated by Notre Dame West Haven 38-  14.

 Hand was victorious in their quarterfinal game beating North Haven 19-7. They  are led by senior quarterback Zach Miller who has thrown for 1900 yards and 14  touchdown passes this season. Senior wide receiver Alec Pacelli has caught 44  passes for 852 yards.

 The Tigers are looking to advance to the state final for the first time since the  2007 game against the Rams. Hand has not won a state title since 2005 when  they were the Class M Champions.
