Man Arrested For Swiping Liquor From Walter Stewart's.

Bridgeport man allegedly took case of liquor while on job.

A Bridgeport man was arrested after surveillance video from Walter Stewart's caught him allegedly stealing a case of liquor during a routine delivery stop last May.

Marvin E. Owens, 44, of Bridgeport turned himself into New Canaan police authorities after being notified that he was being sought for a larceny that allegedly took place at the supermarket on Elm Street.

According to New Canaan Police officials, an employee of Walter Stewart's noticed there was one case of Moet Chandron Imperial champagne missing from inventory on May 3. The incident was reported to the police department on May 6.

After an investigation which included perusing the surveillance video, police officials determined Owens had allegedly stacked a case of the Moet with some other cases during his delivery and then made off with it. The case of Moet was valued at $191.94.

Owens was charged with larceny. Bond was set at $25,000 and Owens has a court date on Feb. 24.

Woman Arrested For Larceny At New Canaan YMCA

Amy Vinci, 40, of Benger Road in Pound Ridge, N.Y. was arrested and charged with sixth-degree larceny after allegedly stealing a coat and other items from the New Canaan YMCA.

According to the police report, a 44-year old New Canaan woman went to work out on Feb. 6 around 5 p.m. She returned from her workout to find that her coat was missing. The Cloud Veil brand coat was valued at $375. Some children's clothing was missing, as well.

After viewing the surveillance video at the YMCA, police officials developed a suspect which turned out to be Vinci. Police officials called to speak with her and she came to headquarters on  Feb.8 where she was issued a misdemeanor summons for sixth-degree larceny. Vinci has a court date on Feb. 21.

South Salem Man Arrested On Drug Charge

New Canaan Police officers making a routine traffic stop, arrested Colin R. Hughes of South Salem, N.Y. for possession of narcotics on Feb. 18.

According to the police report, an officer stopped a vehicle that was driving on Cherry Street without a light above the rear license plate. A driver and two passengers occupied the vehicle. The officer asked if there were any drugs in the vehicle and Hughes handed the officer a package of two pills that were believed to be ecstasy, according to police officials.

Hughes was arrested for narcotics. Bond was set at $1,000 and his court date was set for Feb. 21.

Man Arrested In Family Dispute

A New Canaan man was arrested after allegedly getting into a heated dispute with his daughter. Fred Koch, 73, of Farm Road, was charged with disorderly conduct for an incident that allegedly took place on Feb. 12.

According to the police report, Koch and his daughter got into a heated exchange at Koch's residence on Farm Road. There was allegedly some pushing involved and Koch was arrested.  He was released with a promise of appear in court.
