Very sad for the passenger who died and for Michael Savage. One bad decision or poor judgment and your life is changed forever.

Thoughts & prayers to the family of the deceased, especially around Christmastime. There aren't many traffic fatalities in New Canaan but the portion of Ponus north of Wahackme Road seems to have more than its fair share. I wonder if the police keep statistics like this, as they would be interesting to see. I believe this is the 3rd fatality in the past 10 years in roughly a 2-mile stretch of road. Hopefully the driver recovers from his injuries.

No, this is a "why would you leave your dead father in your smashed up car and run from the scene" bs. It speaks volumes about Mr. Savage. If you can't see this, then go see an eye doctor.

Maybe, in light of what this family is going through and will have to continue to go through, we can find it in our hearts to avoid the typical lynch mob mentality with tragedies such as this. Or at least keep the spirit of the holiday season in mind and soul, and refrain from speculation until some facts come out.
My prayers go out to the family.

What good man leaves his dad in his smashed up car and runs from the scene of an accident without calling the police?
It's terrible that his father died but give me a break! These are not the actions of a good man.
P.S. I grew up in a big house in New Canaan.

Mr. Machete, you are an idiot. You grew up in a big house in NC? And? So did I. How is that relevent pal?
Are you sure that Mike did not whack his head on the steering wheel and had no clue what was going on or where he was after the accident and maybe thats why he walked away? Maybe he was going to get help and someone picked him up and drove him to the hospital because he had severe injuries.
My point here is to not make hateful judgements on someone in a case like this until you know the facts because I know Mike and he is a very good guy and a very good father. Oh and by the way he does not work for a hedge fund.
Merry Christmas

Thanks for the compliment! I don't know the man so there is no way I could hate him. By all the accounts that I have read in the Advocate, Advertiser and Patch, it sounds more than a little fishy to me.
Fatal one vehicle auto accidents usually involve reckless driving. I doubt he was obeying the posted speed limit.
I'm entitled to my opinion whether you agree or not.
The "big house" comment was in reference to Ms. Rivera's comments that implied "class envy".

Mr Machete,
Regardless of the circumstances, Michael is still someone's son, father, husband, cousin and friend. He is a good man...I am sure you have made some mistakes in your life, and out of respect to those of us who are grieving, kindly leave your comments to yourself, as you have no idea of all of the details.
One can only hope you don't have ever experience what this family has experienced. you might change your tune.

Comments on this site should be vetted by the Patch - Mr Machete, you should seek psychiatric counseling and afterwards, consider moving from New Canaan. My thoughts and prayers for Mike, his family and friends.
