Wreaths For Friendship and Connections
Staying Put and The Young Women's League of New Canaan create holiday cheer!
Whether you are young or older, wreath decorating is a great way to spend an hour or two with friends.
Every year and team up to decorate wreaths for the housebound. This week a delightful group of elves were able to decorate 30 wreaths that will be delivered all over town, bringing holiday cheer to those who need it most. The children loved using the shiny ornaments, the ladies preferred the more natural beauty of the greenery, and Joe made the wreaths sing with jingle bells! Kristin Thomas and Elizabeth Demuth did a wonderful job setting the scene, and Kristin describes the afternoon beautifully in this note from the heart:
"As a relative newbie to New Canaan, every time I am around those who have been here longer than me I learn something. And when the other person has lived here 60 years, I am inspired! That is what happened today when, as a member of the Young Women's League of New Canaan, I was able to spend time with clients of Staying Put in New Canaan, an organization that helps safely and confidently.

They came through the rain in cars excited to get ready for the holidays. We came in SUVs bearing bare wreaths, bows, ornaments and little children. Together we decorated the wreaths to adorn their homes and those of their friends who could not make it out. We talked and smiled and laughed to Christmas tunes and in the end, I think it was I who really got something out of it. I learned about cedar and how that is what all wreaths used to be made of and that they should be adorned simply because they are beautiful on their own. I learned that friends last a lifetime and that hot cocoa on a rainy day makes it the perfect day. I am blessed to be a part of the Young Women's League and a part of this community. "
We wish you all a happy and healthy holiday season!
