American Airlines Donates Two Round Trip Business Class Tickets to Restaurant Week Kick-Off Event Benefiting the New Canaan Food Pantry

The announced American Airlines as the official airline sponsor for the first-ever New Canaan Restaurant Week today.

The event running August 26 through September 3 is benefitting the (NCFP) with a kick-off event Thursday, August 25.  

The kick-off event, titled "Taste of the Town," is an evening stroll from 6 – 9 p.m. with giveaways including two round trip business class tickets to South America or Europe. Other prizes including but not limited to $50 restaurant gift certificates will be awarded as well. 

To become eligible for giveaways attendees will donate items to NCFP in exchange for a “Stroll Map”. Food Pantry representative Carol Conway suggests items like; coffee (regular drip and  regular instant, decaf instant), honey, stews, feminine hygiene products (tampons and sanitary napkins), laundry detergent, boxed cold cereal, canned poultry (chicken, turkey), instant drink mixes (iced tea, lemonade, etc), dried fruits (apricots, raisins, prunes, cranraisins).

 “At this point we have an abundance of pasta, mac & cheese, and canned beans and would discourage people from donating them," Conway said.

The Chamber is also working with to provide pre prepackaged bags that will cover monetary donations of $10, $20 and $30 dollar amounts. Stroll maps will direct the public to retailers and restaurants where they can preview restaurant week prix fixe menus, make reservations or enjoy specials and promotions designed specifically for that evening.

Completed maps will be returned to Tucker Murphy, Chamber Executive at 9 p.m. who will announce winners live at 9:30 p.m. that evening. 

Destinations will include but are not limited to; , , , , , , and catered by Elm () just to name a few. Participating restaurants offering gift certificates are , , , , , , and Tuscan (new restaurant).
