Dr. Oz's Charity Event for Child Obesity

Dr. Mehmet Oz, cardiac surgeon and host of the Dr. Oz Show and his wife, Lisa, co founded, "HealthCorps" in 2003 - a charity to fight child obesity and mental resilience crises and expand the organization's groundbreaking in-school health educational and mentoring program.  This year Wednesday, April 18th, Dr. Oz and his wife, Lisa will honor individuals for their work to help combat child obesity and diabetes while celebrating the success of Coordinators and their students.

I am proud to say that I will be part of Dr. Oz's goodie bag giveaway this year.  I am so happy and honored to give a sampling of my healthy chocolate, (www.healthyflipside.com), to the many people donating money and their time at this event.  My hope is to educate more adults and children about how my products can actually help improve people's health, help with weight loss and fight off cravings.

This is a topic near and dear to my heart as well as my husband's.  The number of children with diabetes and who are overweight continues to increase at an incredibly scary rate.  My husband, owner of Born Ready Fitness, trains many kids; some are athletes and some have a difficult time with their weight.  He loves seeing the change in children's confidence as he helps guide them on how to make healthier choices with food and add fun exercises into their daily life.

If you would like to help towards making a difference and donate, please go to www.HealthCorps.org for more information.  Your contribution will help to raise funds to continue our mission.  Since its inception, HealthCorps has grown from a single pilot school to 54 high schools in thirteen states!  The goal by 2015 is to create change in high schools in all 50 states, which is now possible since programs were just added in Baltimore, New Orleans, and Oakland. With everybody's help and pushing this altogether, we can get children back on the right path which will change the rest of their lives.

Thank you for your support.

Where DIDN'T you learn to write?? Jane Himmel May 22, 2013 at 01:27 pm "This has CONVINCED MYRead More GROWING CONVICTION that Patch has moved complete..."

I just called Staples. This is really disturbing to me. If I don't get a satisfactory answer, IRead More will let people know and I will also decide whether to continue shopping there. I do not like to give my money to unethical businesses.

This has convinced my growing conviction that Patch has moved completely away from any pretense ofRead More being a news source and is simply an electronic bulletin board. By abandoning their prior procedure of approving posts before they go up, they are letting anything go on and then taking them down if they're reported. By then, it's too late: the poster has gotten their message across during the time it's in the lineup. I only check in with Patch occasionally now and so many people in town won't read it at all anymore. I think we need to be honest with ourselves about what kind of a public forum this venue is. This doesn't reflect well on Staples if they are using subterfuge and violating Terms of Use on Patch either.

Tom, the tree warden doesn't just "put in trees and take them down" just like that. ThereRead More is a reason behind every tree that has come down or gone up. Whats with this town and trees anyway? It seems like a huge source of controversy...they are TREES.

if they had done it at night at least it wouldn't have been smudged. BUT, i happen to think itsRead More nice, and especially with the flags hanging. we forget we are a small new england town, and small things like the red white and blue stripes remind me that we still are! :)
