Addiction is a family disease. When one member of the family has a problem with drugs or alcohol, everyone is affected. The first step towards positive change often comes when family members begin to take charge of their own lives.
How to Cope is a seven-session course that supports, educates and empowers family members to start living a healthier life-style.
How to Cope is an excellent companion or alternative to Al-Anon or Alateen. It differs in that it is run by a licensed marriage and family therapist and the sessions are very targeted in helping family members begin their own recovery process. When family members begin to reconstruct their own lives, often the addicted peson begins to seek help.
Sessions for adults are reasonable (about the same as a co-pay). Need-based financial assistance is available for adult programs.
Sessions for children and teens are currently being offered free of charge.
