Hurricane Relief Effort - New Canaan Family Gives Thanks
Jason and I thank all of you who contributed to the Hurricane Sandy Relief collection. With your help, the help of surrounding towns and many volunteers from the Church of the Archangels in Stamford, we were able to completely fill a 27 foot U-Haul with food and supplies and a 14 foot U-Haul with clothing and bedding. We did all of this in less than a week. These supplies were delivered to St. Barbara Greek Orthodox Church in Toms River, NJ which is serving not only as a distribution node for desperately needed supplies but also as the town's local elementary school given Lavallette Elementary was so heavily damaged during the storm. The delivery was an emotional one; met with tears of gratitude.
Special thanks to the Kean family, owners of the New Canaan Mobil station, for serving as an additional collection site.
We know that there will be ongoing need in the communities surrounding Toms River, NJ and we hope that we can provide additional support in the weeks to come. Stay tuned and thank you again!
