Men's Basketball League to Return to Y this Fall

Registration for the fall men’s basketball league at the New Canaan YMCA is currently available.  Now in its third season, the league is open to players ages 18 and older and games will begin the week of September 10.

The season includes a minimum of ten regular season games and concludes with an end-of-season tournament.  Teams may have a minimum of seven players and a maximum of twelve players.  Games are held once a week on Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday evening and consist of two 20-minute halves.  A weekly newsletter is also sent to captains featuring a brief write-up of each game, individual stats, team standings, and previews for the upcoming week.

Aaron Zimmerman, Sports Director at the New Canaan YMCA commented, “We created the league as a way for community members who share a love for basketball to come together and get to know each other while staying active.  The league has had a great first two seasons with
over 120 participants each season.”

New Canaan YMCA member and men’s basketball league participant, Bo Marcus added, “The league was a great challenge, the adrenaline and excitement that develop are very cool, and team building is essential—it was great to see a mix of ages playing together.  I’m glad I played as it was definitely something I looked forward to each week.”

Team fee is $700 and includes a t-shirt and certified officials for each game.

Teams must be complete in order to register.  All interested team captains should contact Aaron Zimmerman at 203-966-4528, ext. 182 or azimmerman@newcanaanymca.org.
