Middle School event: Get Your Tickets Now for Energizing Education

Teens host AFTERNOON EVENT TO RAISE MOney & awareness for education in nicaragua

Energizing Education is an afternoon of fun consisting of games, contests, prizes, music, pizza & ice cream designed for middle school children from all local towns. This fund raising event on Friday, Feb. 24th from 3-8 pm at the Outback in New Canaan was created by 25 local teens to help send underprivileged children in Nicaragua to school. Come join the fun for the entire afternoon or any part of it.

Our goal is to raise awareness and money to send kids to school in a small town in Nicaragua.  It only takes $100 to educate a child per year. This includes the cost of uniforms, shoes, books and tuition.   Members of Kids Helping Kids travel to Nagarote every summer to work with these children. It is an amazing experience for the kids to see the impact of their efforts. Some children were attending school for the first time, at age 10, as a result of our donations!  Education in Nicaragua is a luxury that many kids simply do not get to experience; All proceeds from this event will go to education for these children.

Tickets are $15 in advance: $20 at the door; all-inclusive. You can purchase tickets online at www.KidsHelpingKidsCT.org or call the Outback at 203-594-3074.  If you are unable to attend, please consider showing your support by making a donation.

About KHK: Kids Helping Kids (KHK) is a non-profit organization developing future leaders through youth-led service programs by providing them a platform to turn their passion into action. The Kids Helping Kids program is unique because every project is inspired, designed and led by youth. In a fast paced, technological world, these young adults slow down to identify and support a cause. They gain perspective of the world they live in, and gain appreciation for their power to influence change and at the same time make a positive impact on the lives of other children. These are small steps in creating life-long leadership skills; this is how we build leaders for the future.

I just called Staples. This is really disturbing to me. If I don't get a satisfactory answer, IRead More will let people know and I will also decide whether to continue shopping there. I do not like to give my money to unethical businesses.

This has convinced my growing conviction that Patch has moved completely away from any pretense ofRead More being a news source and is simply an electronic bulletin board. By abandoning their prior procedure of approving posts before they go up, they are letting anything go on and then taking them down if they're reported. By then, it's too late: the poster has gotten their message across during the time it's in the lineup. I only check in with Patch occasionally now and so many people in town won't read it at all anymore. I think we need to be honest with ourselves about what kind of a public forum this venue is. This doesn't reflect well on Staples if they are using subterfuge and violating Terms of Use on Patch either.

New Canaan hockey players are better off playing at Sono, Ridgefield or Stamford Youth Hockey.

Has everyone noticed this? Anyone want to post a photo here for those who haven't?

welcome to New Canaan. We can waste it better than any other. Anyone need trees. I understandRead More that if you write a letter to the tree warden he will immediately put them in or take them out if you so desire. I would like 4 trees, free alarm monitoring and a sidewalk please.
