NCHS Drama's "Sweet Charity" Opening Soon

“” at is set to open this week March 8, 9 and 10 at 7:30 pm in the High School Auditorium. This exciting musical with a score by Cy Coleman, Dorothy Field’s lyrics, hilarious book by Neil Simon, and the original stylish choreography by Bob Fosse is certain to be a big hit.

Charity Hope Valentine (Alexa Holzberger), a dancer at the Fandango Dancehall in New York City in the 1960’s, has charity and hope in abundance, and is ever hopeful that her heart will get as much attention as the one tattooed on her arm. But, in fact, her less than enviable love life is a series of ups with a lot of downs. She’s either getting dumped by Charlie (Deven Appel ) or treated badly by Victorio (also Devon Appel) who only befriends her when his sizzling girlfriend Ursula (Olivia Canning) isn’t available. And when she finally finds Oscar (Tyler Giggi) a nervous guy she meets in an elevator, he winds up taking her, just like the elevator, all the way up - before her puts her down!  But, there’s always Nickie (Ali Rush) and Helene (Allie Potenza) and Carmen (Samantha Tesluk) her closest friends at the Fandango Ballroom to help her through. As Charity Valentine always says, what can you do? It’s all down to “the fickle finger of fate”.

For those who might remember, twenty-three years ago the High School put on “Sweet Charity” on the same stage with the same director, Dee Alexander, who was just starting her long and successful career  with the High School Drama Department. Some of the original cast will be coming to this production.

But whether you’re going for the nostalgia or to support the amazing NCHS drama students in their latest effort or maybe you just want to see the 14 Fandango Dancehall girls  in their Elaborate wigs and costumes shimmering with sequins,  looking so different that their  own Mother’s can’t recognize them - you won’t want to miss this fun filled show!

Tickets sales are March 5th though March 9th from 11am to 2pm in the High School Lobby and one hour prior to show times.

Where DIDN'T you learn to write?? Jane Himmel May 22, 2013 at 01:27 pm "This has CONVINCED MYRead More GROWING CONVICTION that Patch has moved complete..."

I just called Staples. This is really disturbing to me. If I don't get a satisfactory answer, IRead More will let people know and I will also decide whether to continue shopping there. I do not like to give my money to unethical businesses.

This has convinced my growing conviction that Patch has moved completely away from any pretense ofRead More being a news source and is simply an electronic bulletin board. By abandoning their prior procedure of approving posts before they go up, they are letting anything go on and then taking them down if they're reported. By then, it's too late: the poster has gotten their message across during the time it's in the lineup. I only check in with Patch occasionally now and so many people in town won't read it at all anymore. I think we need to be honest with ourselves about what kind of a public forum this venue is. This doesn't reflect well on Staples if they are using subterfuge and violating Terms of Use on Patch either.

New Canaan hockey players are better off playing at Sono, Ridgefield or Stamford Youth Hockey.
