New Canaan Community Foundation Receives Donation From Chamber

New Canaan Community Foundation Receives Donation for Local First Fund From New Canaan Chamber of Commerce Iblast card sales

The Local First Fund at the New Canaan Community Foundation (NCCF) makes grants to support projects that attract visitors and retail prospects to New Canaan and help make our Town an enjoyable place to live, shop, and do business.   The fund recently received a generous donation of $3,780 from the New Canaan Chamber of Commerce, which represents 25% of the proceeds from their sales of I.b.l.a.s.t (I Buy Local and Shop in Town) cards in 2012.  The I.b.l.a.s.t program features special discounts and offers for their 900 cardholders from more than 100 participating local retailers.  In addition, over 50 unique community events were promoted through theircommunications efforts and outreach to cardholders. There are four underwriting Sponsors of the program, whose leadership ultimately increases the resources available for the Local First Fund: Bank of New Canaan, New Canaan Advertiser, Walter Stewart’s Market and Nurenu Brand Marketing.  “We are very pleased to partner with the Chamber of Commerce to encourage residents to shop local and to reinvest in our special downtown business area through targeted grants to fund unique initiatives”, said Cynthia Gorey, Executive Director of the New Canaan Community Foundation. NCCF provides a way for all residents of New Canaan to make an impact by supporting causes that are important to them and our community.  For more information about the NCCF and the Local First Fund, call (203) 966-0231 or visit www.newcanaancf.org.  For more information about the I.b.l.a.s.t. card program, visit www.iblastcard.com or call the Chamber at 203-966-2004.

Where DIDN'T you learn to write?? Jane Himmel May 22, 2013 at 01:27 pm "This has CONVINCED MYRead More GROWING CONVICTION that Patch has moved complete..."

I just called Staples. This is really disturbing to me. If I don't get a satisfactory answer, IRead More will let people know and I will also decide whether to continue shopping there. I do not like to give my money to unethical businesses.

This has convinced my growing conviction that Patch has moved completely away from any pretense ofRead More being a news source and is simply an electronic bulletin board. By abandoning their prior procedure of approving posts before they go up, they are letting anything go on and then taking them down if they're reported. By then, it's too late: the poster has gotten their message across during the time it's in the lineup. I only check in with Patch occasionally now and so many people in town won't read it at all anymore. I think we need to be honest with ourselves about what kind of a public forum this venue is. This doesn't reflect well on Staples if they are using subterfuge and violating Terms of Use on Patch either.

Tom, the tree warden doesn't just "put in trees and take them down" just like that. ThereRead More is a reason behind every tree that has come down or gone up. Whats with this town and trees anyway? It seems like a huge source of controversy...they are TREES.

if they had done it at night at least it wouldn't have been smudged. BUT, i happen to think itsRead More nice, and especially with the flags hanging. we forget we are a small new england town, and small things like the red white and blue stripes remind me that we still are! :)
