New Canaan U12 Girls Black soccer team lose against Bethel in SWD Playoff Semi-Final

On Saturday New Canaan had a tough loss to end their Fall 2012 season in a semi-final game against Bethel.  Although most games were cancelled in the area, NC played against Bethel at the Treadwell/Tilson turf field in Newtown.  Jordan Paterson was outstanding playing in goal the entire game.  She made some saves that otherwise could have resulted in a goal against NC.  New Canaan’s defense kept strong with Nora Belodeau, Meghan Kloud and Ella Goodman.  Although Bethel took some penalty kicks, there weren’t many shots on goal from either side.  The first half ended in a tie of 0-0.  Jessie Svagdis was very aggressive throughout the game, but unfortunately this lead to numerous penalty calls against her.  Midway through the second half Bethel took the opportunity on one of their penalty kicks and had a strong shot which was unstoppable for Jordan Paterson.  Several minutes later Bethel crossed the ball to an open player who scored their second goal.  New Canaan continued to battle in the second half with a more aggressive offensive playing, but New Canaan never maintained possession long enough to obtain any goals.  Towards the end of the second half Bethel had a goalie change, which gave New Canaan renewed optimism of scoring a late goal.  Jessie Svagdis, Lauren Canet, Kaitlyn Moussignac, Karlijn van der Loo each had shots on goal.  The crowd was excited when goalie Jordan Paterson took a penalty kick at midfield.  NC never capitalized on this, but it was exciting for our goalie to be out of the net.  With minutes left to the game Cait McCarthy took the ball down the field, NC kept possession for a while but wasn’t able to get another shot on goal.  The NC U12 Girls Black team ended their season with a loss of 0-2.  Congratulations to the team and coach Barry Beattie for a great season.

I just called Staples. This is really disturbing to me. If I don't get a satisfactory answer, IRead More will let people know and I will also decide whether to continue shopping there. I do not like to give my money to unethical businesses.

This has convinced my growing conviction that Patch has moved completely away from any pretense ofRead More being a news source and is simply an electronic bulletin board. By abandoning their prior procedure of approving posts before they go up, they are letting anything go on and then taking them down if they're reported. By then, it's too late: the poster has gotten their message across during the time it's in the lineup. I only check in with Patch occasionally now and so many people in town won't read it at all anymore. I think we need to be honest with ourselves about what kind of a public forum this venue is. This doesn't reflect well on Staples if they are using subterfuge and violating Terms of Use on Patch either.

New Canaan hockey players are better off playing at Sono, Ridgefield or Stamford Youth Hockey.
