Book Signing: From Welfare Mother to International Author, Palmieri Has the Magic

Are love and magic enough to bring a broken family back together? The answer can be found in author Suzanne Palmieri’s enchanting novel, “The Witch of Belladonna Bay,” which she will be signing Saturday, May 24, from noon to 2:30 p.m. at Elm Street Books.

Palmieri, who grew up on stories of Italian magic, says she believes in a magic that is a natural instinct -- something many don’t listen to.

Perhaps that magic is what led the young, single mother on welfare through college and eventually to a masters in sociology from Fordham University.  Now she is the author of four books, two being released this month and two being sold internationally.

This novel is the much-anticipated followup to Palmieri’s debut, “The Witch of Little Italy,” which is being translated into Spanish and Italian.

Under the name of Suzanne Hayes, she is co-author with Loretta Nyhan of “Empire Girls,” due out later this month, and “I'll Be Seeing You,”  which is being translated into French.
