Ms. Flatow and Ms. Kolb spoke about their exciting vision for the Carriage Barn Arts Center- the upcoming art exhibitions, children’s workshops, programming and outreach programs.

Specifically, they spoke about the just completed photography classes for both children and adults, and of their plans to offer even more interactive, hands-on programs for children interested in exploring various ways of creating their own art.

They also discussed plans for their upcoming first-ever fundraiser, “A Night in Havana,” May 17th, which will showcase the extraordinary Contemporary Cuban Art Collection of a Greenwich Collector, Steven Certilman. This collection represents artists living and working in Havana, Cuba.

The artists use mixed-medium materials readily available to them, since art supplies and resources to purchase them are sometimes scarce. The event will feature a live jazz band (Manchado), catered Cuban cocktails and food, and silent auction. Tickets are on sale now through their website, www.carriagebarn.org

The New Canaan Society for the Art’s mission is “to promote the visual and performing arts, and to enrich the community through exhibitions, education, and cultural experiences, and to operate the Carriage Barn Arts Center.

"The Carriage Barn Arts Center offers artists opportunities to exhibit their work in an exceptional gallery space in a unique nineteenth-century stone barn. Exhibits, lectures and educational workshops, concerts and other events are held in this adaptively reused historical building on the grounds of a former estate, now Waveny Park.”
