New Canaan's Wilson Fleming Heads to Motocross National Championships

Wilson Fleming, Amateur Motocross Phenom, racing since he was 7, has won dozens of local and regional titles, now is headed to compete for the National Title at Loretta Lynns National Motocross Championship, in Hurricane Mills, Tennessee on July 28.

Wilson Fleming, child motocross phenom, racing since he had his first Yamaha with training wheels  at 3, is headed to the most prestigious amateur race in the world - Loretta Lynn's Amateur National Championship, July 28-Aug 2 in Hurricane Mills, Tennessee.

The National Championship is only open to the top 5% amateur racers who have to win a series of qualifiers that bring together the best of the best amateur motocross racers. These tough competitors compete against each other in a long and physically tortuous annual race in Hurricane Mills, Tennessee, referred to as "Loretta's."

It is the hardest and most prestigious race for amateurs who are faced with longer than normal race/lap times. A typical motocross race "Moto"  is 8-10mins in length and at Loretta's the motos are 20-25mins long, coupled with extreme heat and humidity one might expect in Tennessee in the height of summer heat.

Wilson, born David Wilson Fleming III, was born in New York City and raised in New Canaan; just graduated from New Canaan High School.

He will take an indefinite "gap period" to train full time at Milsaps Training Facility in Cairo, Georgia, just outside of Tallahassee, Fl. Long considered the best training facility in the world, this has been his dream, to train to be the top amateur and ultimately professional motocross racer!
Good luck to Wilson!
