Sneak Peak of YW's Snow White, Feb 2nd

The YW International Club is pleased to announce that there will be a sneak peak of the “Snow White”, a British panto production, on Sunday, February 2 at 2:00 at Darien Library,1441 Post Road, Darien, CT.  The preview will occur in the Children’s Library and feature a scene with Snow White and the dwarfs.  In addition, Adele Evershed, the production’s director, will provide a brief explanation of British pantomime style.  Title sponsor for this year’s production is Pepsico.

The full presentation of Snow White will be held at Darien Town Hall, 2 Renshaw Road on Saturday, February 8 and Sunday, February 9.  This whimsical and light-hearted version of the tale will begin at 4pm.  Tickets are $10 for advance bookings; advance tickets are available on the YWCA Darien/Norwalk website at ywcadariennorwalk.org.  Children under 2 can sit on laps for free.  Tickets at the door are $12 each. As performances have sold out in the past, the community is encouraged to purchase tickets in advance.

Snow White will be performed in British pantomime style, which contrary to its name is not a silent production. The production involves theatrical story telling, jokes, music and sheer slapstick humor. Adults and children alike will enjoy booing the wicked stepmother as she plots Snow White’s demise and laughing at the antics of many characters. A happy ending is assured with lots of laughs for everyone along the way.  Young attendees are encouraged to wear their Snow White (or princess) costumes to join in the fun of this production!

This production benefits the YWCA Darien/Norwalk and will include a raffle during each day of the performance. As in the past, Jet Blue is a sponsor and airline tickets will be raffled off and awarded at each performance.  Raffle ticket prices are $10 for one ticket, $25 for three tickets.  Proceeds from this event benefit the YWCA Darien/Norwalk’s initiatives and programs including Parent Awareness, Job Search Support, Stand Against  Racism, Newcomers Club and Working Mom’s Network.
