Waveny Care Network Receives New American Flag

New Canaan – Flying free on the flagpole in front of the Waveny Care Network is the new American Flag donated and presented by the Hannah Benedict Carter Chapter, NSDAR, on Thursday, January 9, 2014. Ron Bucci, Campus Administrator for the Waveny Care Network, graciously accepted the flag and posted it himself right after the presentation. This new flag replaces the flag the chapter donated five years ago and the old flag will be properly disposed of at a ceremony the local Capt. Stephen Betts Society, Children of the American Revolution. Veterans at the Waveny Care Network and men and women that attend the Adult Day Program were in attendance for the presentation.  The group recited the Pledge Allegiance, sang the National Anthem, God Bless America, and more. The Chapter Regent, Diane Wells, had Melissa Murray read a poem about the American Flag and Laurie Owen and Kathie Brzoska held the new flag to display it during the presentation. Overall, it was a great gathering to honor our veterans at the Waveny Care Network.
