Donuts to Dirt, It's a Wild and Woolly Weekend

You won't miss the May Fair with all these kid-friendly activities on the calendar.

How great would it be to create your own personalized i-pod or cell phone holder? How about jewelry, a scarf or a purse? In this Fashionable Felted Wool Accessories Workshop at , your child, age 7-10, will learn all the basic techniques to make these wearable fashions, and the school provides all materials. 1-3 p.m. on May 15

Yes, there was life before electronics (and even electricity). is hosting an afternoon of old-fashioned games and colonial crafts for children ages 6-11. 4-5:30 p.m., May 12

Donuts and dirt: what a combo. Your child will love digging in the garden while munching on donuts at the New Canaan Nature Center will be a fun morning of preparing and planting the children's garden, and teaching your child the joys of gardening. 10:00-11:30 a.m. on May 14

And to learn where that wool comes from, stop by Spring on the Farm at the Stamford Museum & Nature Center. Watch as their flock of sheep gets its annual shearing, see the newly born Hecksher farm animals, take part in a variety of hands-on activities and demonstrations. There will be activities for all ages including face-painting, crafts, story-telling, hayrides and more. Celebrate spring on the farm! 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 15, rain or shine.

Don't forget to stop by New Canaan Farmers Market, which opens for the season on Saturday morning at 10 a.m. In the old Center School parking lot on the corner of South Ave. and Maple St.
