Family Dinner at the Y

In partnership with New Canaan Youth Services, the Y will be hosting its annual Family Dinner Night on Friday, September 28 from 6:00-8:00 PM.  The goal of the event is to help increase awareness of the importance of family dinners within our community.

A free family-style dinner will be served to event guests. After dinner, there will be lots of fun activities for everyone including family swim, Bouncing Bears, archery, games, and more!

The event is free, however, families must register by September 26 either at the Y Front Desk or online at www.newcanaanymca.org/membership/onlineregistration.

The importance of family dinners:
According to CASA, compared to teens who have frequent family dinners (five to seven per week), those who have infrequent family dinners (fewer than three per week) are:
•Almost four times likelier to use tobacco;
•More than twice as likely to use alcohol;...
•Two-and-a-half times likelier to use marijuana; and
•Almost four times likelier to say they expect to try drugs in the future.

Proud event sponsors: New Canaan Youth Services, New Canaan Police Department, and Walter Stewarts
