Fairfield Police Department

The is now on Facebook. "Like" the department's page on Facebook for regular updates on the department's campaigns (like "Click It or Ticket" and "Drive Hands Free or Pay the Fee") as well as emergency communication, like reports of downed wires and trees during storms. You can find the department on Twitter by following @fpdct.

Christopher Shays

The former U.S. Senator currently campaigning for 2012 has been making stops at train stations on the New Haven Metro-North line, including two recent visits to Fairfield:

Facebook is not a proper way for government to communicate with citizens - it requires that you join a private website before interacting on supposedly important public safety information. It is highly invasive of privacy, too. Finally, the FPD does not have a Facebook page, although the town does.

Yes, the department does: https://www.facebook.com/FPDCT It's a recent addition. They're also on Twitter & Youtube. The link is included in the subhead, "Fairfield Police Department.".

Titles are not the expected place for links; the blue link in that section does not go to the FB page. If the official PD site doesn't have links to their social network accounts, anything that claims to be them should not be trusted. Web safety 101.
