Fun Things To Do Today With Your Child

A circus, a cruise, a dance and a dog day: It's an action-packed weekend.


For clowning at its best go to the Ridgefield Playhouse which will present New York Stage Works' . It's an action-packed performance of uni-cycling, aerial acts, acrobatics, juggling, dance, mime, dogs and more. Also on hand will be Jane Turner signing copies of her new children's book, The Dog Who Went to Main Street. 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., April 30

It's a day for the dogs at Spencer's Run where , held by the Ox Ridge Kennel Club, will give your pooch a chance to try Rally Games, guided by an experienced trainer and instructor. Or have your dog take the Canine Good Citizen Test and see if he is ready for therapy work - it's the first step to high level obedience competition! 9:30 - 11:30 a.m., April 30

Introduce your child to the wonders of gardening. The New Canaan Nature Center has twelve garden plots available in the and participants will have access to tools, watering facilities and the greenhouse. In October, celebrate your hard work with a harvest potluck dinner made from your very own produce and herbs. The kick-off event is at 10 a.m. on April 30.

Direct from Phnom Penh, Cambodia comes the Children of Bassac teen-age dance troupe to captivate your child with a performance of of exquisite classical and lively folk dances. Catch them at Stepping Stones Museum for Children. 11 a.m. workshop and 2 p.m. performance on April 30

 Starting this Saturday, The Maritime Aquarium will launch its new season of hands-on Marine Life Study Cruises. It's more than just a boat ride: your child will assist the educators in bringing fish, crabs, and other animals out of the Sound and onto the research vessel, Oceanic, and will be able to use equipment like the video microscope and biodredge. Cruises depart on Saturdays at 1 p.m. April 30-June 25, and on 1 p.m. daily in July and August.
