Hutchinson River Parkway Construction Causes I-95 Delays

Expect some commutes involving I-95 to take longer than usual Tuesday through Saturday.

There will be construction on the Hutchinson River Parkway Bridge over U.S. Route 1 in Pelham Manor that will cause significant traffic delays on the New England Thruway between exits 9 and 14, according to a Monday Thruway Authority press release.

This arrangement will be in place from 5 a.m. Tuesday through Saturday.

Traffic from U.S. Route 1, which will be closed in the area, will be directed onto I-95 and will increase the number of drivers on the highway. It recommended that drivers in the Bronx and in Westchester County avoid the area if possible, according to the release.

The Hutchinson River Parkway will remain open, with the entrance and exit ramps for Route 1 having been modified to serve as a detour and slow the traffic flow.

The Route 1 closed section, which is under the bridge, will be the construction staging area, according to the release.

See the Department of Transportation website for more information about the project and the detours. Find out live traffic information by calling 511 or going to the 511 NY website.
