New Canaan Post Office Closes Pine St. Mobile Unit on Monday

On Saturday, the mobile unit at the former Pine Street location of the New Canaan Post Office closes for good, and on Monday all services will be available at 90 Main St.

Don't go to the New Canaan Post Office mobile location on Pine Street after Saturday, when it shuts down. On Monday, the post office will have full services at 90 Main St. (map), where it opens at 8 a.m.

The Main Street office is only temporary, as a search continues for a more permanent location. Here's the full announcement from the U.S. Postal Service:

The New Canaan Post Office, which has been temporarily relocated to 90 Main St., will offer full retail services beginning at 8 a.m. on Monday, March 3.  Customers will be able to get a key to their new PO Box and buy postal products and services at that location.

Services at the Mobile Unit, located across the street from the Pine Street location will cease at close of business on Saturday, March 1st.

The 90 Main St. site will be open from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Monday through Friday and from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Saturday for retail services with access for customers to pick up their PO Box mail from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. on Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Once construction is completed, customers will be able to access their PO Boxes 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.

A Self -Service Kiosk, where customers can send mail and packages, buy stamps and perform other postal services will be added in the near future and will also be available 24 hours per day.
