Playing Chicken at Farm and Main

Not saying this is the easiest four-way intersection in New Canaan to negotiate. As you approach Farm Road at Main/White Oak Shade from any direction, it's a trapezoidal spread of stop signs.

I get that.

Still and all, what are motorists thinking? I shot this video just now, at 11:15 a.m. on a Tuesday. What happens in the heart of a commute or lunch hour?

For starters, you've got the New England Electrical truck coming in right behind the blue hatchback -- clearly didn't stop. And because of that, the truck waiting patiently at Old Norwalk Road cannot get out.

That's what happens all the time at this intersection: Cars pull past the stop sign with no regard for motorists already waiting.

Check out how long the next car, the tan thing, has to wait to pull out. Why? You've got the white Jeep coming from Farm that rolls through the stop sign and then can't be bothered to signal right (this driver wants his route is shrouded in mystery), then the white van comes from White Oak Shade and appears so surprised that the long-suffering tan car pulls out, that he does a little slalom swerve.

Really?
