Reza Aslan to Speak at New Canaan Library

As part of the speakers and lecture series, Aslan will be a guest lecturer on Sept. 22nd at 3:00pm. Early registration is suggested.

The New Canaan Library  and the UN Committee of New Canaan announced recently that Dr. Reza Aslan will be a guest lecturer for the UN Committee Lecture on Sunday, September 22, 2013 at 3:00pm in the library's Adrian Lamb Room.

Reza Aslan is an internationally acclaimed writer and a scholar of religions, who has recently appeared on several major media outlets to discuss his new book, "Zealot: The Life and Times of Jesus of Nazareth."

Dr. Aslan holds degrees in Religions from Santa Clara University; Harvard University; and the University of California, Santa Barbara; as well as a Master of Fine Arts from the University of Iowa, where he was named the Truman Capote Fellow in Fiction.

Aslan's first book is the international best seller, No god but God: The Origins, Evolution, and Future of Islam, which has been translated into thirteen languages, and named one of the 100 most important books of the last decade. He is also the author of How to Win a Cosmic War (published in paperback as Beyond Fundamentalism: Confronting Religious Extremism in a Globalized Age), as well as editor of two volumes: Tablet and Pen: Literary Landscapes from the Modern Middle East, and Muslims and Jews in America: Commonalties, Contentions, and Complexities.

The lecture is co-sponsored by New Canaan Library and will take place in the Adrian Lamb Room. Early registration is suggested because a large audience is expected and space is limited.
