Town Seeking Crosswalk Right Here

We got a lot of comments on a recent post about a crosswalk that's gone in at South Avenue up by Waveny and the Y (http://newcanaan.patch.com/groups/editors-picks/p/new-crosswalk-on-south-avenue-at-waveny-trailhead).

Where I'm standing as I shot this video just now (11:30 a.m. Monday) is the site of another planned crosswalk, between the police station and United Methodist Church.

You can see that mid morning on a Monday there's not a lot of traffic here, and I also saw that there's a crosswalk already right down at Church Street.

The reason the town is requesting the new crosswalk -- South Avenue is a state road, so DOT approval is needed -- is because many workers and visitors to the police department (site of several other municipal offices while Town Hall undergoes renovation) park at the church lot, designated for overflow parking.
