  • Summer Theater of New Canaan is putting on the musical "Grease" at 8 p.m. on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays -- as well as 3 p.m. matinees on Saturdays and 4 p.m. Sundays -- through Aug. 11. The outdoor theater is located at the end of the New Canaan High School parking lot, on Farm Road.
  • Gathering of the Vibes music, arts & camping festival returns once again to the water’s edge at Bridgeport, Connecticut’s 370-Acre Seaside Park July 25-38 to celebrate its 18th year.
  • If the New Canaan Village Fair and Sidewalk Sale whetted your appetite, there's a sidewalk sale coming up at Stamford's High Ridge Center (Exit 35 off the Merritt) from Wednesday through Sunday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. (And they've got a farmers market there every Sunday and Wednesday through October.)
  • Every Rose Has Its Thorn ... and Bret Michaels is coming to the area this week. The former Poison frontman headlines Thursday's lineup at Stamford's "Alive @ Five" concert series downtown.
  • Commuting by train into the city this week? If you're along the Long Island Sound shoreline, you know the difference between the old rail cars and the new M-8's. According to the Connecticut DOT's latest update, 216 of those M-8 cars have been delivered to the New Haven rail yard, and 196 are in operation.
