22nd Annual Ice Cream Social

Bring the family for an old-fashioned Sunday afternoon outing under the big tent with The Town Band directed by Brad Williams.  Sponsored in part by the Bank of New Canaan, come and enjoy ice cream courtesy of Baskin Robbins and cakes donated by the New Canaan Charity Leagues.  This year there will be special demonstrations of spinning and weaving as well as colonial music at the Hanford-Silliman House Museum and activities for children on the lawn.  There will also be printing demonstrations on the Smith-Hoe Acorn Press in the Print Shop.  On the grounds will be antique and classic cars, come meet the owners and vote for your favorite to win the Peoples’ Choice Award.  All of the museums on the Society’s campus will be open to the public, including the John Rogers Studio, Rock School, Cody Drug Store, Tool Museum and Hanford-Silliman House.  Off campus the Little Red Schoolhouse on Carter Street will be open from 1:30 – 3:30 with docents who went to the school and will tell their remembrances of attending this New Canaan treasure.  End the day listening to classics by a saxophone quintet led by Wally Mead.

The Ice Cream Social will run rain or shine!
