Botanical Illustrations talk for NC Beautification League

On Wednesday, March 7, 2012 the New Canaan Beautification League is presenting a program titled "The Art of Botanical Illustration: European Printed Art from the 17th, 18th and 19th Centuries" by Tom McLaughlin, Director of Donald Heald Rare Books, Prints & Maps, NYC. The program is free and open to the public and will be held at the New Canaan Library at 9:00 AM (coffee), speaker at 9:30AM to 11 AM.

Mr. McLaughlin is a renowned authority on the subject of fine illustrated color plate books, prints, drawings, and maps, with over 30 years experience. He will share his knowledge of one of the most exciting periods of discovery in natural history exploration and art. His talk will be of interest to artists, gardeners, decorators and historians.

Programs and Membership in the New Canaan Beautification League are open to the public. Monthly programs are held from October to June, and are of varied topics, informative and educational. The group’s focus is the beautification of New Canaan. Membership supports civic projects around town like funding the hanging baskets.
