Community Reel Film Series: "The Horse Boy"

The New Canaan YMCA is proud to announce that we will be showing "The Horse Boy" as the second screening of our Community Reel Film Series.  The screening will take place on Saturday, September 24 at 7:00 PM at the Powerhouse Performing Arts Center in Waveny Park.

“The Horse Boy” follows one Texas couple and their autistic son as they trek on horseback through Outer Mongolia in an attempt to find healing for their child. When two-year-old Rowan was diagnosed with autism, Rupert Isaacson, a writer and former horse trainer, and his wife Kristin Neff, a psychology professor, sought the best possible medical care for their son—but traditional therapies had little effect. Then they discovered that Rowan had a profound affinity for animals—particularly horses—and the family set off on a quest that would change their lives forever.  Directed by Michel Orion Scott, “The Horse Boy” is part travel adventure, part insight into shamanic healing, and part intimate look at the autistic mind.

A reception will be hosted following the film with small plates and beverages served by Brian Lewis, owner of the upcoming Elm restaurant in New Canaan.
