New Canaan Chamber to Kick off Holiday Stroll
Local children and children’s organizations are invited to pick up free kits with which to craft gingerbread houses, which will be displayed in the windows of local stores for the launch of the annual Holiday Stroll on December 2.
The seventh annual Gingerbread House Tour is once again being organized and underwritten by M Milestones. There are 75 house kits available on a first-come, first-served basis, one per family or organization.
The free gingerbread house kits are available immediately at the New Canaan Chamber of Commerce offices at 91 Elm Street (above the movie theater) weekdays between 9 a.m. and noon.
“You don’t have to be Hansel or Gretel to appreciate the creativity and enthusiasm that our young people exhibit each year when building and decorating their own gingerbread houses,” said Tucker Murphy, executive director of the Chamber. “This is a wonderful tradition that our ancestors brought with them to the New World. Keeping it alive is one of the more enjoyable rites of the holiday season.”
The houses will be on display in store windows throughout town during the month of December. The Holiday Stroll is scheduled for 6-9 p.m. Friday, Dec. 2 and Saturday, Dec. 3 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
