Silent Movie Night at the United Methodist Church of New Canaan

The United Methodist Church invites the New Canaan  community to a family night of old time Silent Movies on Sunday, October 24.  The evening will begin with a potluck dinner at 5 pm, followed by the movies at 6:00 pm, ending at 7:30 pm.  All are welcome to come and there is no charge.  The movies are appropriate for all ages.

The silent movies will be presented and accompanied on the piano by John Mucci.  Mr. Mucci has been accompanying silent films since 1972, and has been acclaimed as "bringing the silents back to life" and providing "hair-raising experiences" during the many chase scenes to delighted audiences a variety of towns, including Wilton and Ridgefield.

Mr Mucci will be showing two comedies that night.  "The Electric House" (1922) is called by some, one of Buster Keaton's funniest short movies, as he plays a botanist who is mistakenly hired to wire a new house.   "Putting the Pants on Phillip" (1927) was the first film to feature Laurel and Hardy as a comedy duo. Piedmont Mumblethunder (Hardy) is embarrassed at the effeminacy of his kilt-wearing Scottish nephew Philip (Laurel).
