New Canaan Teacher Set to Appear on America's Got Talent Semi-Finals

On Tuesday night, New Canaan will gain a little bit more fame when music teacher Kathleen Dorfman takes the stage as the violinist for the 3 Penny Chorus and Orchestra on the America's Got Talent semi-finals.

The show is set to air live Tuesday beginning at 9 p.m. and runs until 11 p.m. Polls actually open at 10:55 p.m., according to the show's website.

"I'm very excited to share that I will be performing (violin) with the 3 Penny Chorus and Orchestra on America's Got Talent this coming Tuesday, August 13th at 9:00pm, live at Radio City Music Hall," Dorfman said in an email Thursday. "This is the semi-final round and the finalists are chosen by audience vote. If you're able to watch [and] vote, we would love your support!"

Dorfman is the orchestra and strings teacher at Saxe Middle School for the New Canaan Public Schools Visual & Performing Arts Department.

3 Penny describe themselves as "a volunteer chorus and orchestra in Connecticut. Our volunteers have professions that range from musicians, teachers, pastors, and doctors. We perform classical music - with a twist! Our love for music spans from Bach to Jepsen!"

The show airs on NBC Tuesday night. To vote at the show's webpage, click this link. The group will find out the results of the voting on Wednesday, a night when the Backstreet Boys are schedule to make a special appearance, according to the group's Facebook page.
