Weekend Calendar, Sept. 9-11: Art, Oysters, and the Arctic

A roundup of some of the best events across the area.

The fall is coming, so we suggest you enjoy some of the area's outdoor festivals (and cheap scoops) while they last:

  • Where: , 132 Water St., Norwalk
  • When: Friday, Sept. 9; Saturday, Sept. 10 and Sunday, Sept. 11
  • Why go: Enjoy the last big festival of the summer. There will be BBQ, music from bands like FUEL and Soul Asylum and rides, along with more oysters than you'll know what to do with.
  • Price: $10 per person for Friday; $12 per person on Saturday and Sunday. $10 for seniors, $5 for chilldren between the ages of 5-12. You can also buy a $25 all-weekend pass or a family pass (one adult and two children) for $50.

  • Where: , 103 Main St., New Canaan
  • When: Friday, Sept. 9 from 6:00 to 10:00 p.m.
  • Why go: This week marks the third anniversary New Canaan resident Mikey Czech's death. Mikey was only 11 when he died of brain cancer. As a thank you for the community support, Czech's family is offering ice cream cones for pennies at Baskin-Robbins. Come out to support his family and enjoy a delicious treat.
  • Price: Ice cream is 11 cents

  • Where: Upper Crust Bakery and Cafe, 980 Post Rd., Darien
  • When: Friday, Sept. 9 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.; Saturday, September 10 and Sunday, September 11 from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm
  • Why go: Local artist Hu Lindsay has displayed 37 of his abstract pieces, including acrylics, collages, computer art, drawings and oils. 
  • Price: Free

  • Where: , 39 Scofieldtown Rd., Stamford 
  • When: Saturday, Sept. 10 from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm; Sunday, Sept. 11 from 1:00 to 5:00 pm
  • Why go: Check out the Stamford Museum's new exhibit on the exploration of the North Pole. The display tells the lively story of a little-known attempt to reach the North Pole in 1903 throughoriginal objects.
  • Price: $10 for adults, $8 for seniors, $6 for children under 17Free for members.

  • Where: , 200 Southfield Ave., Stamford
  • When: Saturday, Sept. 10 from 12:00 to 9:30 pm
  • Why go: Bring a picnic lunch and enjoy art and music from area residents.
  • Price: Free
