With the start of school just weeks away, New Canaan families can save money on their school shopping during Connecticut's annual tax holiday.

For a full week, Sunday, August 18th through Saturday, August 24th, sales tax will be waived on back to school shopping. Individual items of clothing and footwear that cost less than $300 will be entirely exempt from the state’s sales tax.

The Connecticut Department of Revenue Services’ website features a list of examples of exempt items, including: shirts, jeans, socks, gloves, hats, rain jackets and sneakers.
