New Canaan Public School Calendar, 2014-15

New Canaan Public Schools just returned to session a couple weeks ago, but it's never too early to start planning ahead.

At the September 9 Board of Education meeting, the board took a look at the 2014-2015 district calendar. If you want to get a peek at the coming year, here's the calendar in its entirety (It is also included above).

The calendar was approved during the meeting after being presented by Superintendent Dr. Mary Kolek. She presented it with the "hope of creating a longer summer to assist with construction projects at the elementary schools that would need to be completed," according to meeting minutes.

CMT testing that traditionally takes place in March may change the calendar further is a computer-based system is adopted, the board said, which would also open up the possibility of spring break changing. Board of Education policy would have to change to allow the spring break move, it was noted.

The calendar passed 7-1, with a "No" vote from board member Scott Gress, who wanted to push February vacation back one week and end the school year on a Tuesday instead of a Monday, and no vote by Gene Goodman, who was absent from the meeting.
