New Canaan Officer Injured In Motorcycle Accident

A New Canaan police officer was injured Tuesday in a motor vehicle accident while he was operating his personal motorcycle in town.

Officer Aaron LaTourette and a vehicle collided at the intersection of Oenoke Ridge Road and Country Club Road at approximately 11:13 a.m. Tuesday, according to Sgt. Carol Ogrinc. LaTourette had been on his way home from appearing in court and was technically on duty.

Officers responding to the scene found LaTourette to be injured but wearing his helmet. He was transported by the New Canaan Volunteer Ambulance Corps with what was classified as "serious but non-life threatening injuries."

The intersection is expected to be closed until approximately 6 p.m.

Ogrinc said the accident remains under investigation, but looks like it occurred when the second vehicle, which was unidentified at 4:30 p.m., was pulling out of Country Club Road. The second driver was not injured.
