Cancer Care Hosts 6th Annual Walk/Run for Hope

The 2012 Walk/Run for Hope will be on September 9.

CancerCare’s Walk/Run for Hope will be held at the picturesque Jennings Beach in Fairfield, Connecticut on Sunday, September 9, 2012. This 5K (3.1 mile) event takes participants through Fairfield’s historic downtown on a USATF-certified course.

In its 6th year, the Walk/Run for Hope raises funds to support CancerCare’s free, professional support services including counseling, workshops and financial assistance provided to anyone affected by cancer.

Honorary Chair and cancer survivor Judi Cardello says “The Walk/Run for Hope gives my family and me a chance to celebrate my recovery by giving back to CancerCare, so they may continue to help those in need. Doctors can cure your cancer, but CancerCare can help cure your soul.”

Registration opens at 8:15 a.m. and the race/walk begins at 9:30 a.m. WABC’s Meteorologist Bill Evans will emcee the event. A hospitality tent and Wall of Hope will be available to commemorate loved ones and there will be an area for kid’s crafts and t-shirt decorating. Mike Cusato will perform live music. WEBE 108 and other vendors will have giveaways.

Sponsors of the event include IMS Health, Genentech, Balducci’s, Brancott Estate Wines, Cusato Architecture, First Niagara Bank, Gen-Probe, Hint Water, Las Vetas Lounge, Pernod Ricard, Pious Bird of Good Omen, PopChips, Saxon-Kent Lingerie, Serendipity Magazine, Tic Tac, TracyLocke, The Veterinary Cancer Center, and Village Bagels.

The registration fee is $40 and children 12 and under can walk or run for $10. To learn more and register visit www.cancercare.org/walkct. Online registration will close at 5pm on Wednesday, September 5.
