A Hospital Comes to Town, Oars for Skis, Trees and Town Planning

The week of March 20-27, 2011.

With three snowy wet days, spring struggled to prove itself this week,  but a little weather didn't slow down Tree Warden Bruce Pauley, who's awaiting word from town leaders about a he recently proposed. He's also hoping residents will sign up for a volunteer committee that will help create a database of all the trees on town property. 

Stamford Hospital purchased , and hopes to establish a satellite medical center like one the hospital runs in Darien. The facility would house doctors' offices as well as a lab, and outpatient physical therapy services. The buildings are adjacent to the train station parking lot, one of two sites under consideration for a possible independent living facility for seniors. 

News of the of a 12-year-old girl from Orange swept the state along with rumors of sightings as far away as Fairfield. Isabella Oleschuk went missing on Sunday morning, and was found  by a passing motorist in an in her hometown on Wednesday.

The Long Range Planning Committee made a as part of its request for a special appropriations of $175,000 to continue its work creating a master plan for downtown. The Town Council will hold another special meeting on Thursday, March 31, to continue the discussion and invites the public to attend.
