Gelatissimo Celebrates Seven Years in New Canaan

Seven years ago Nuccia and Andrea Mazzonetto came to New Canaan with one goal… to hand make fresh gelato daily and to successfully sell it at their store on Forest Street.  Not only have they achieved their goal, but the community has also exceeded their expectation of embracing their shop as a favorite destination.  Nuccia, who runs the shop full time, says that the store is fun.  The customers have smiles on their faces when they visit the shop and she associates gelato with happiness.  She said that she enjoys seeing children excitedly press their noses against the glass display case. In addition, Nuccia enjoys the relationships that she has built with the local teenagers that she hires.  “New Canaan is a very special place, and I feel so fortunate to be a part of the community” she said.  Nuccia and Andrea appreciate the support from the town and would like to thank everyone at their seven year celebration on Saturday, October 6th.  Stop by the shop at 26 Forest Street for free tastes, and treats for the children.

Gelato is made with milk, is gluten free and has less fat and fewer calories than ice cream.  Many flavors are also dairy free.  Some of their most popular gelato favors include lemon, raspberry, vanilla, coconut, chocolate, stracciatella and hazelnut (bacio). For a special treat, order your gelato on a homemade crepe with nutella or fresh berries, or have it served in a homemade waffle cone.   The shop also serves delicious Italian espresso, cappuccino, hot chocolate and teas.  Gelatissimo is open daily at 11:00 am and closes at 9:00 pm during the week and 10:00 pm on Friday and Saturday nights.  The shop will be closed on Mondays during the winter months.
