It’s a family affair at .
"There are very few true ski stores left in this area, let alone ones that are family-owned. Our customers have been so loyal over the years that we are able to provide them with genuine personal attention”, said Pam Alberino, daughter of Ski & Sport owner Susan Alberino. "That's what makes us unique."
John and Susan Alberino opened New Canaan Ski and Sport, which today is at 11 Forest Street, in 1976 with the intention of combining the highest level of customer service with the finest outdoor products available. Their genuine passion for the outdoors and their love of skiing was passed on to their children, Pam and Gio, who are now significantly entrenched in the family business.
They recall one year when a last minute holiday shopper called two days before Christmas to purchase ski equipment and clothing for the entire family and asked that it all be gift-wrapped and ready for pick-up on Christmas Eve.
Christmas Eve came and went, and the customer was unable to make it to the store. So, early Christmas morning, the Alberino's played Santa and delivered the packages to the family at home.
Ski & Sport continues its long tradition of combining small store customer connections while maintaining impressive inventories.
This year, their family has grown by one. Baby Jack is 9 months old and mother Pam figures he’ll be on skis by next winter. Pam wishes for a prosperous year and lots of cold weather and snow!
