After dropping to $3.69 in the face consistently higher prices everywhere, the cheapest gas in the New Canaan area moved in the other direction, to $3.77 (see table below), and now eclipses state averages.
In Connecticut, the average gallon of regular gasoline held steady at $3.74, according to AAA's "Fuel Gauge Report," with mid-grade at $3.87, premium at $3.98 and diesel at $4.13.
One year ago, a gallon of gas in Connecticut would cost, on average, $2.92, with mid-grade at $3.17, premium at $3.25 and diesel at $3.17.
