Moja Café Serves Unique Cuisine in Downtown Westport

Located next to Save the Children at 12 Wilton Road, Moja Café sits on the west bank of the Saugatuck River in downtown Westport.

Rick Demers, Executive Chef at Moja Café, Westport’s newest Asian and South American restaurant, has created a menu that offers “unique cuisine in trendy downtown Westport.”

“It’s interactive food that is prepared right in front of you,” Demers said.

Moja Café features items like noodle bowls and salads, but you'll find arepas on the menu, which are grilled corn cakes topped with salmon, tuna, pork, chicken or duck. The cafe also has its own line of infused sake, including flavors like cranberry and habanero.

Owner Tom Linell, who is excited to open an outdoor dining patio with seating for 30 in the spring, is pleased to see so many restaurants opening on the west bank of the Saugatuck River in downtown Westport.

“The more we can put on the west bank of the river, the better off Westport will be,” said Linell, who is a Weston resident.

Greenfield Partners will open their headquarters next door to Moja Cafe in the spring and the new multi-level parking garage acorss the street will serve as parking for the restaurant as well.

“Outdoor dining has been approved and there will be entertainment and music in the spring on the boardwalk, next to a park in downtown Westport,” Linell said, adding that a small park is being added next to the café.

“This doesn’t exist here. Nothing like it exists in Westport,” Linell said of the unique food served at the South American - Asian fusion café.

Where DIDN'T you learn to write?? Jane Himmel May 22, 2013 at 01:27 pm "This has CONVINCED MYRead More GROWING CONVICTION that Patch has moved complete..."

I just called Staples. This is really disturbing to me. If I don't get a satisfactory answer, IRead More will let people know and I will also decide whether to continue shopping there. I do not like to give my money to unethical businesses.

This has convinced my growing conviction that Patch has moved completely away from any pretense ofRead More being a news source and is simply an electronic bulletin board. By abandoning their prior procedure of approving posts before they go up, they are letting anything go on and then taking them down if they're reported. By then, it's too late: the poster has gotten their message across during the time it's in the lineup. I only check in with Patch occasionally now and so many people in town won't read it at all anymore. I think we need to be honest with ourselves about what kind of a public forum this venue is. This doesn't reflect well on Staples if they are using subterfuge and violating Terms of Use on Patch either.

Tom, the tree warden doesn't just "put in trees and take them down" just like that. ThereRead More is a reason behind every tree that has come down or gone up. Whats with this town and trees anyway? It seems like a huge source of controversy...they are TREES.
