New Canaan to Get One More Option for Pizza in Town

New Canaan's fourth pizza place is set to open soon, just around the corner from one of its rivals.

Locali Pizza Bar + Kitchen is set to open it's doors right at the corner of Forest Street and Locust Avenue in the former location of Kouzina and right next to Joe's Pizza, "New Canaan's Original Pizzeria." Brought to New Canaan by the owners of Mount Kisco eatery Village Social Kitchen + Bar, Locali is touted as a "niche restaurant concept" featuring gourmet pizzas and Mediterranean small plates prepared with locally-sourced ingredients, according to a press release.

The restaurant features a handcrafted, wood-burning oven named Giovanni "created especially for us in Italy, flown over and handcrafted by Ferrera himself here in the Locali kitchen, it is truly the Ferrari of ovens," according to co-owner Anthony Legato, and executive Chef Mogan Anthony, a recent CHOPPED competitor.

“The sense of community in New Canaan felt similar to that of Mount Kisco” says co-owner Joe Bueti about choosing New Canaan as the new home for the restaurant. “The motivation behind the new restaurant concept was not to, reinvent the proverbial wheel but instead to re-craft a classic."

Legato said the restaurant hopes to bring a specific, niche food concept to the neighborhood and be more than "just another pizza joint."

According to the release, Neapolitan-style pizzas will range from $11 to $18, small plates will range from $5 to $18 and house wines and affordably-priced bottles and house wine carafes will be available.
