NY Times Reviews New Canaan Diner: 'Excellent'

A restaurant review in the New York Times on Sunday praises New Canaan Diner as one of three places in Fairfield County to grab an "excellent" breakfast.

New Canaan Diner, a popular eatery in town since 2009, recently snagged a positive, if brief, accolade from the New York Times' regional restaurant reviewer, Patricia Brooks.

The review described three restaurants—the New Canaan Diner, Estia's in Darien, and L'Escale in the Delmar Hotel in Greenwich—as eateries that "offer excellent meals in a range of styles."

Brooks describes the atmosphere inside the restaurant, calling it "1950s-style, with black-and-white tile floors, marble countertops, shiny chrome fixtures and vintage canned music" with a pleasant outdoor seating area to do some people-watching.

The Times reviewer noted the "smorgasbord of choices" on the menu, singling out the Alaska Benedict - two poached eggs, smoked salmon and a slice of tomato atop an English muffin - for particularly hungry folks.
