Readers' Choice: Favorite Sporting Goods Store

Help us crown a winner in this week's Readers' Choice contest on New Canaan Patch.

Last week saw the official opening of the Major League Baseball season (as well as the opening of a , right here in Fairfield County), and spring certainly is in the air.

Some would say it’s been in the unseasonably warm air since January.

So what lawn games and equipment will adorn our backyards, roof racks and town parks this summer? Maybe some badminton nets, jungle gyms, croquet mallets, bicycles and (for fans of “The Hunger Games”) archery sets?

This week, we’re asking you, our local Patch readers, to tell us what’s your favorite spot to pick up sporting goods (scroll down for our poll), and more importantly—why (click on the business listing hyperlink below, and give it a rating and review for future local shoppers to find).

We will declare this week’s Readers’ Choice contest winners on Friday at 12 p.m., as per the rules (attached as PDF).

Here’s our starter list (don’t see a business on this list that should be there? Say so in the comments thread!):

When I was FORCED to be a Boy Scout we went to Bobs all the time. They USE to have all items needed and it was and still is FUN to go there. Wish they would expand and be the big store they once were. But, I still Love it there and it is still #1 to me. Though Darien Sports is incredicle and wonderfull too.

Lou at Cycles On Call is THE expert when is comes to bicycles (any kind, kids & adults), whatever your need, he's there to recommend, guide, assist, teach, tune up, repair. Don't lug your bike(s) around -- get the economical, full service that conveniently COMES TO YOU for pick up and delivery! He even teaches kids (incl mine) how to ride a bicycle without training wheels (using a bicycle without wheels so that the child can learn balance). If you need any help / advice call the bicycle pro, Lou!

Great Idea. Thanks. Maybe if I get a bike for Kelly he can teach her FOR me. :)
