Signs of Spring: Dog Bowls Appearing Downtown

Warm weather brings panting dogs, and many New Canaan merchants bring relief.

 

New Canaan has enjoyed more than one unseasonably warm day since the winter storm hit last month and blanketed the town in snow.

Some of the many signs of spring on Main and Elm Streets are the dog bowls of water that merchants put out in front of their storefronts.

It’s a nice gesture on the part of our businesspeople, regardless of what your thoughts are on public dog bowls, such as those found at Spencer’s Run.

There’s a dog bowl in front of Baskin Robbins and also Candy Nichols, two doors down. There, co-owner Anna Carberry says, “We love dogs and we always have our dog bowls out.”

It’s a dog-friendly town, as Meri Hopkinson of Suburban Couture told us in a short video above on one recently warm day.
