Local Fitness Instructor Launches TAKEN 4 A RIDE - Spinning Classes to Start Your Day!

Fitness Instructor Linda Kavanagh teams up with 360 Fitness of New Canaan to launch her own brand of a popular spinning workout. Taken 4 a Ride is an early morning workout that combines cycling with high energy music, motivation and fun, ultimately providing cyclers with the mental and physical boost to face the day ahead!

Kavanagh, a certified group fitness instructor and Mad Dogg Spinning Instructor, was previously with the YMCA of Westport for 7 years and most recently with the New Canaan YMCA for 17 years where she led a spin studio of 30+ early risers three mornings a week.  The success of the class was attributed to more than just the knowledge of the workout itself, but rather, Kavanagh’s ability to reel in her students and provide them with a well thought-out and challenging ride, wrapped in enthusiasm, humor and camaraderie.

“As instructors, we get our technical certifications in various concentrations, “says Kavanagh,” But there’s no certification for passion, commitment and the ability to motivate people. I love spinning (working out), and most of all, I love spinning with friends. I often tell my classes that I am ‘using’ them, as these classes are just as important to my well-being as they are to theirs.”

The physicality of the high intensity cardio workout is teamed with a more temperate and mindful approach to how we attack our workouts. Real music and real rides set the tone, guidance by an experienced instructor puts you in capable hands, your heart rate rises, your breathing takes over, and in the midst of it all everyone is having fun and embracing “the only 45 minutes you will have to yourself today”, as Kavanagh can be heard saying.

“Linda's class has changed my life.  As a mother of three teenagers and aging parents, I find myself looking for ways to get through the stress. Linda's spin class is my solution, “says New Canaan resident and spin enthusiast Whitney Williams, “Her fantastic music, along with her knowledge and encouragement have allowed me to lose weight, gain energy and de-stress!  It has become a part of my daily routine. At the end of each class I think ‘now I am ready to face the day.’  Sign up early, “insists Whitney,” you will want to guarantee your seat!”
